Eighth Weekend of Banding 2020

 Hi Everyone,

Here is my eighth report of the 2020 banding season, covering the weekend of October 17th, 2020.

Sorry for the late report, but my computer died on Oct. 16th. I just got my new rebuilt one that salvaged all my files, but I am still having some problems getting all the programs to work properly.

Weekend of Saturday, October 17th

Due to heavy snow storms that were predicted for the North Shore of Lake Superior, we all stayed home this weekend.

"We got no birds this weekend." - Captain Obvious

We are still at 128 total birds for the season.

Earlier That Week, October 15th

On Thursday, the 15th of October, I went up to Hawk Harbor to meet two out-of-state falconers, Mike and Brandon, who had permits to trap for falconry in Minnesota. Kenny, my Minnesota falconry friend, also came up to try to help the visitors. We all got there just in time for the bad weather. That morning, while we were helping to get set up, our neighbor Don came by and said he had just seen three wolves down at the other end of the field. Kenny and I took his truck and headed up to the banding blind on that end of the field. Half way up the hill, I spotted the wolves on the North side of the field. I jumped off the tailgate of Kenny's moving truck and started shooting photos. Later in the day, I got some shots of eagles feeding on a deer carcass out in the field across from Hawk Harbor. Mike and Brandon had a good time but did not fill their permits.
